What is the Planetary Society?
In 1980, Carl Sagan, Louis Friedman, and Bruce Murray founded The Planetary Society. They saw that there was enormous public interest in space, but that this was not reflected in government, as NASA’s budget was cut again and again. Today, The Planetary Society continues this work, under the leadership of CEO Bill Nye, as the world’s largest and most influential non-profit space organization. The organization is supported by over 50,000 members in over 100 countries, and by hundreds of volunteers around the world. Their mission is to empower the world’s citizens to advance space science and exploration. They advocate for space and planetary science funding in government, inspire and educate people around the world, and develop and fund groundbreaking space science and technology.
How Much of My Purchase Gets Donated?
For every bottle of Lesher’s Beerd Oil Galaxy Cluster that I sell I will donate 30% of the gross proceeds directly to The Planetary Society. If you purchase a 2oz bottle, that’s $19.99, $5.99 will be donated directly to The Planetary Society.
Do I Need to Do Anything?
Nope. All you need to do is purchase a qualifying tin of Lesher’s Beerd Oil or Lesher’s Beerd Oil in the Galaxy Cluster special edition. That’s it.
What Is the Process for Making the Donations to the Planetary Society?
Once a quarter, I will compile the total Galaxy Cluster sales – both Lesher’s Beerd Balm and Lesher’s Beerd Oil – and calculate the total donation as a percentage of the gross sales before sending a check directly into the organization.
Will You Tell Us How Much Money Was Raised?
Yes. I will share the quarterly donation amounts via all Beerded Beard social media outlets. I will also add a small “Year to Date” section in the individual product description pages both here and on beerdedbeard.com.

Hops Fragrance Notes:
NOTE: These are the aroma descriptions of the actual, raw hops themselves and not of the finished product. While copious amounts of hops are used to infuse Lesher’s Beerd Balm with the essential oils and other goodies found within the whole hops, it does not contain whole hops and it doesn’t smell like fresh hops. If you want a beard balm that smells exactly like fresh hops, you best look elsewhere (it doesn’t exist, btw). Beerded Beard Company products smell like something completely unique, something you’ve probably never smelled before and it’s pretty damn awesome. Oh, and it’s not for everyone. Customers have described Lesher’s Beerd Balm as funky, earthy, spicy, fruity, citrusy, and complex. Keep an open mind and you won’t be disappointed.
Galaxy – Galaxy™ has rapidly become the most internationally recognized Australian flavor hop. Her reputation comes from the distinctly identifiable characters she brings to beer, which can range from passion fruit and peach to clean citrus aromas which are more intense the later the addition. Highly versatile, Galaxy can be used in almost all varieties of beer. A protagonist in its own right, Galaxy is not to be mistaken for Citra.
Cluster – Cluster is one of the oldest hop varieties grown in the United States and until the late 1970s, accounted for the majority of the country’s hop acreage. Its pedigree is unknown, however hybridization of imported varieties and indigenous male hops has been suggested. Cluster is an excellent dual purpose hop and is often used in the reproduction of historical beer styles. Specific aroma descriptors include floral, earthy and sweet fruit.

Remove desired amount of Lesher’s Beerd Oil brand beard oil from the bottle using the handy little dropper cap. For your average beard I’d start with 8-10 drops and work up from there. Massage the beard oil between your palms to warm. Stick your nose between your hands and inhale that seductive hop essence. Starting at the base of the beard and using spread fingers, gently massage the beard oil into your beard paying close attention to the skin. Massage into the beard hair and work out toward the ends insuring every hair is coated. Repeat the process using a downward motion. Style as you typically would and proceed to drive everyone wild with your deliciously hoppy beard.

Each batch of Lesher’s Beerd Oil is made from scratch and because each batch is as individual as you are there may be subtle variations in the finished product. Hops are a living plant and crops differ slightly from year to year. This means that from batch to batch intensity of fragrance and color will also differ slightly.
